Boyi is a rising first year medical student who has a strong passion for serving underserved and marginalized communities. She was President of International Justice Mission's Cornell chapter for two years and hopes to continue fighting injustice and inequality in the world through education and activism. Her loves include reading good books, connecting with people, experimenting with fashion/makeup, and vlogging on her personal Youtube channel.
WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT STEWARDSHIP? Boyi holds the core belief that every single person is deserving of love, freedom, happiness, and the opportunity to pursue their dreams. She also believes that as members of a collective human race, everyone is responsible for each other. Good stewardship means using what you have been given to benefit others, whether they are near or far, present or future. Too often, we don't think about how our habits and our consumption affect the lives of others and the environment, which we have all been charged to care for and maintain for future generations. Boyi dreams of a world where actions are always rooted in compassion and consideration for the lives and experiences of each other.

Candice loves seeing the intersection of food and justice collide. In college, she trained to be an engineer, but it wasn't until she spent time with youth in the inner-city that she developed her passion for food and nutrition. As a registered dietitian and public health consultant, she specializes in program evaluation, research and community health. As a Mom, she is learning the value of sharing fresh, simple meals with her neighbors. She is devoted to empowering consumers and supporting healthy environments in under-resourced areas. She catches inspiration by the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.; “Everybody can be great…because anybody can serve.” She hopes to serve readers by writing evidence-based articles to bring clarity to food and nutrition topics. She loves spicy curries, fermented foods, and waffles (but not all in one meal) and will try not to gush about these too much (you have been warned).
WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT STEWARDSHIP? Wendell Berry wrote “There are no unsacred places; there are only sacred places and desecrated places." I grew up in a small town where mining had ravished aspects of the community and earth. It troubles me when I see other communities affected by poor stewardship. I believe that we need to consider how our buying habits impact other spaces, even one's that we don't interact with directly.

Born and raised in New York, Catherine is currently a music education major at NYU. She loves Jesus, people, the earth, and music!
WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT STEWARDSHIP? I care about stewardship because I believe that we have been given the immense and honorable responsibility of taking care of valuable resources and fellow humans on our earth, but we haven't done such a great job. If everyone could be more conscious about the way we steward our resources, more mindful about the people that work tirelessly to get our resources to us, and more loving overall, some incredible things could happen.

She enjoys reading and writing about the benefits of natural spaces and built environments on people’s health and wellness. Her hope is to promote more awareness for the importance of spatial environment and to advocate for quality working, learning and recreational conditions. WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT STEWARDSHIP? To me, stewardship is protecting God’s resources. It is innate behavior for humans to take. People need to develop a habit to protect and give back to our planet. The rate people utilize resources impedes on the future of the world. Not only are objects being exploited, humans are also being exploited. There is more yet to be done for social justice; we have to break through the barriers of politics, financial status, inequality, fear and doubt.

Megan Armstrong is a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia and a food nerd. She longs for the day when people, planet and animals are no longer evaluated on they produce but are cherished and dignified in their own right.
WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT STEWARDSHIP? "I care about stewardship because it doesn't make sense to not care about stewardship. The evidence is before me that human actions affect the longevity and immediate wellbeing of other humans, the ecosystem and the planet. Failing to steward our resources is like failing to check for traffic when crossing the street. There is no neutral in stewardship - not doing it is contributing to the problem."

Vicki is a Water Resources Engineer at Arcadis, doing primarily stormwater design work for the Philadelphia Water Department. She found her passion for water in college when she did research for AguaClara, a project team at Cornell that designs gravity-driven drinking water treatment plants for small communities. There are many social issues Vicki cares about greatly, but focuses mostly on water resources now, because a lot of issues cannot be solved until more people have access to clean water. Most of her free time is spent with water as well, since she is an active paddler for Pennsylvania Dragon Boat Club and loves to see different waterfalls across the globe. When not doing something dealing with water, she enjoys hip hop dance and petting any and every dog in sight. She aspires to be a winning chef on Chopped, but has a long way to go to achieve this dream.
WHY DO YOU CARE ABOUT STEWARDSHIP? I care about stewardship because I want this planet and human race to continue thriving in the future. Water resources in particular is an essential issue that must always remain a priority since it is a necessity of all life. Without access to clean water, so many other social issues cannot be solved and many more issues will arise. We cannot afford to be wasteful with such a precious resource just because we have the money right now to do so. We should all take responsibility in ensuring the way we are living is sustainable for future generations.
